There's this feeling of kinship with shapeshifter cryptids that I find more and more prominent as I explore neurodivergent masking through therapy. In moving away from toxic masking I once relied on to survive undiagnosed I see how the guise of fitting in hurt me and how I in turn hurt others on my own. This creature was inspired by the idea of a decoy. Something vaguely owl shaped to lure you in and by the time you see the third eye open, the mouth is too close.
